Heating Up In Paint

I got an email this week from my online Japanese school that I’ve been learning from for the last 4 or so years. I had taken a class from the head teacher years ago and at the end of it, she started up a more formal company. Recruiting more teachers and setting up a variety of classes. I joined pretty much right away. Did a few different classes from a JLPT class to group conversation classes. I still recommend them. But since starting they raised prices and allowed the early members to keep their price as long as they don’t stop taking classes. I am guessing more people than they expected has stuck around for longer than they expected. I got an email this week saying that the grandfathered pricing was going away and will become the normal class pricing in a couple months. This felt pretty convenient timing. I have kind of hit a plateau in my Japanese group class lately. And with work’s office days being on the same day as my class. It’s just been a bit of extra stress that I was looking to take a break or switch class days. And since now I do not have to worry about losing my grandfathered pricing, I decided to take a break and come back later when I’m ready.

New job has more opportunities to listen and use Japanese. And chatting with a variety of people has been more valueable lately than being in a class environment. I’ve been enjoying my oil painting classes, so I am thinking to bump up the number of sessions of that I do in a month. More chances to use Japanese in a situation that I’m not used to. More challenges and practicing.

I am dreading the next couple months of summer, but the rainy season has been very kind to us this year. Usually it’s quite wet, hot, and humid, but seems Europe is holding onto most the heat. So mostly just wet and kinda humid. In exchange for the heat, there’s been many earthquakes lately. The early detection alarms have gone off a few times in the last month. The alarm is usually more scary than the earthquake itself. But a few have been close by. Hopefully, we don’t get any big ones during a typhoon. Stay cool, be safe.
