I woke up unmoving for a while.
I should work out.
Go to the gym.
Maybe if I do it tomorrow it’ll fit the 3-days-a-week routine better.
Monday-Wednesday-Friday.
It’s better to do it tomorrow.
But I get up anyways.
Later than I normally like to go to the gym.
I am already late.
Wonder how many people are already there.
Are the benches all taken already?
Maybe.. Just maybe it’s better to do it tomorrow morning instead.
I can wake up on time tomorrow.
It’ll line up the routine for the week.
I get up anyways.
Still not sure if I would actually go I open up the fridge.
The half-size fridge my wife bought when she lived in her 20m² apartment.
She had it before we met.
I have to bend over just to look into it.
If I were to go the gym, I don’t want to go on an empty stomach.
Staring down the yogurt knowing that if I grab it, it’s me committing to the gym.
If I go tomorrow, I can close the fridge then and there.
Walk over to the living room and lay down with the iPad and the well-intentioned e-book reader.
I want to read a book, but I would probably be looking at stupid stuff on the iPad instead.
This time in the morning is too late for the gym and too early to be awake.
If I go tomorrow, I would sit here, not reading my e-books waiting for the sun to rise just enough that my wife was awake, but not awake enough to get out of bed.
Then I would jump into the futon with her and we would lay there until we were hungry enough to get up and eat the yogurt.
But I grabbed the yogurt.
Eat it with some oats and dried fruit.
And slip my shoes on and walk to the gym.
I do my workout routine.
It’s not a long one.
I don’t care to be super buff.
I don’t think I even eat enough to get there if I wanted it.
Not enough calories.
Not enough protein.
Not enough yogurt.
But I want to be healthier and my software developing ass is being sat on more than it should.
So I go to the gym.
I do face-pulls because a guy on youtube told me it was important for fixing my neck posture.
I do it every time.
Just a little bit as a warm up.
I do the leg day that I skipped last week because I slammed my knee hard into a doorway.
I do the stationary bike for 10 minutes.
Enough to get the blood flowing and to put some pressure on my knees.
My knees that have been struggling after every hike.
I will walk for several hours without issue.
And then on the way back, I have to not jinx myself even in thought that my knee will start hurting.
Otherwise after we’re already done.
We’ve hiked.
We’ve had lunch.
We’re feeling good.
We’re nearly home.
And my knee will decide it has given up.
So I do the stationary bike to wrap up the gym time.
I wonder if I can sneak back in for a nap until we’re both hungry.
But she’s already awake when I arrive.
We make our breakfast.
Some eggs, coffee, muffins.
She has her yogurt.
I already had mine.
She pulls out her phone to buy the new refrigerator.
The big one we saw at the store.
As I rub the scab on my knee, we talk about warranty in hopes it last us 10 years.
